Join us for a workshop for adults/parents on parent-teen communication around issues such as privacy, trust, relationships and discomfort surrounding sex and sexuality.

"Mirror, Mirror on the Wall:
Body Image and Self Esteem for Mothers and Daughters"

For mothers/guardians and their
4th, 5th and 6th grade daughters.

Mothers of girls entering puberty hear many comments about the way their daugters feel as they change and grow into young women. HiTOPS Educators lead a discussion with mothers and their daughters about self esteem, body image and gender issues facing young women today. Topics discussed in small groups include:
  • The role of media, culture and family reflected in how we see ourselves
  • Discussion of healthy lifestyles and beauty
  • Learning strategies for appreciating our bodies

Computer IT Job Announcement

Hopewell Public Library


Job Announcement: Information Technology Associate/Part time

The Hopewell Public Library in Hopewell Borough is seeking a responsible individual to manage all aspects of the library’s information technology activities. Hours/days variable, approximately 10-15 hours per week. Specific duties will include:

1. Provide technical training and support for staff and patrons, including developing educational programs for patrons.

2. Support, maintain, update library’s website. (www.redlibrary.org)

3. Diagnose, troubleshoot, support, maintain, plan and implement upgrades for a wired and wireless (WiFi) network of desktop and laptop computers for library staff and patrons.

4. Support and develop upgrades to current library operational data applications utilizing database (MS-Access), spreadsheet (MS-Excel), and proprietary MS-DOS software. Develop upgrades to use client/server MySQL database.

5. Plan and develop expanded library capacity in areas such as data collection and statistics, patron databases, card catalog, and network connectivity.

6. Conducting other projects as directed by the Library Director and/or the Library Board of Trustees.

Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in computer technology and applications. Degree and/or library experience preferable but not required. Good communication skills, patience, ability to work in small staff environment but operate independently.

Reporting: To the Library Director

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience

Boo Contest Extended!

It seems everyone Loves Boo: apparently we've sparked plenty of interest in trying to guess who indeed Boo really is.
The library's Boo contest has folks intrigued, so we are going to give more folks a chance to enter their ideas by way of drawing, poem or story. The contest truly ends on May 25th, 2007.
Every contestant will be given a tee shirt just for entering!
We'd love to hear your ideas too-Who's Boo?
